April 4, 2025 S7 Briefing, Q&A, Deadlines
The Pre-Race Briefing is live for consumption. It's required viewing for *at least one* member of your team. Your team will have to confirm with us that you've viewed it, but only by watching the video will you learn *how* to let us know! If you want to signalgate it, and share the secret briefing details with others, feel free to add a reporter into a text thread with your team. It'll get out faster.
Also posted on those websites is the Seneca7 Official Course Guide! This is required reading before the race and is required *carrying* during it. Because cell service can be spotty on the course, and wifi is even less reliable out there, you need to either download the course guide to a device or have a printed copy in your team vehicle to follow during the event. The course guide includes key information not just about where to run, but where your team is allowed to drive. Avoid headaches, penalties, detours, and delays by adhering to the vehicle directions in the guide!
By April 7 your team's pace needs to be locked in on your team page. This event relies on your accurate, good faith estimates of the speed of your runners. There are safety, state permit, and traffic congestion considerations that we have to manage over this 77+ mile course. Your forthright presentation of your team's expected travel time is critical!
Who wants ill-fitting shirts to wear around? Maybe the millenials among us, but for those who care about their shirt size, be sure those requests are in on the team page by April 7 or you risk getting either a kid's XS or one of Jeff's old musty ones that he can't get the smell out of the armpits of.
After you watch the briefing, send us any lingering questions you have and we'll answer those (and any others you care to pop into the chat) in a LIVE question-and-answer session. This will be held Wednesday, April 16th at 7pm EST and stream live to the Seneca7 Facebook and Red Newt Racing YouTube pages where you can drop in questions. We will not entertain conspiratorial questioning on whether Travis Kelce and Taylor are truly in love so just don't ask cuz everyone knows that they are okay(?)! Most everything else is fair game.
Maybe you're wondering about the deadline for making runner substitutions, having those waivers signed, when to show up for packet pickup (and where), or other items? The timeline posted on the Seneca7 and Red Newt Racing websites can answer all of this!
February 2, 2025 Seneca7 - Lucky 13*
Your team has successfully navigated the time sensitive gauntlet which is registration day. While we collectively mourne yet another year of Kansas City denying the Bills yet another shot at the big day, we do hope this email can help you get prepared for successful navigation around Seneca Lake on April 27th!
The Seneca7 website has the information you'll need to be ready for raceday, whether this is your first time running or your 13th*. As we work to finalize details we'll continually make updates to the website. As you'll see on the checklist page, you have one month remaining to come up with a catchy team name, devise a training plan to both look and move as well as these two fine Irish lads by raceday, and to enter your teammates' shirt sizes.
Much like General Washington, where the answer is "nobody knows," we are unable to tell you how many liters are in a gallon. However, if you're wondering how to access your team link, the answer can be found in the confirmation email from the registration system (check your spam folder if said email never arrived) or request it anew from the link on the website.
Your team link is where you'll find the button to get waivers signed. If you have substitutions to your roster, you will also use this to keep waiver signatures updated.
We'll be back in touch with another email closer to the event, including updates to and a course overview, information on packet pickup and start line protocols, and probably another reminder about waiver signatures!
Looking forward to this journey around the lake with you!
November 7, 2024 Last chance to enter
Wow! The Seneca7 field was full in under 7 minutes and the wait list filled up soon after.
But you probably already knew that because Chris, our PR Director, does such a great job keeping Seneca7 social humming. Did you catch his most recent post about charity slots? These are the last way to be sure your team has a spot on April 27, 2025. A handful of charity slots go on sale Friday (11/8) at 7am.
What are 'charity slots', you ask? They're a limited number of entries for teams that want to join the field while also supporting one of our very worthy community partners. A majority of the charity slot registration fee goes directly to the charity partner you choose when registering. A $100 deposit is due at registration, with the balance due by the end of the year.
These organizations are doing great work in our community, and the services that they provide are invaluable! You can read about them on the website listed above and indicate during registration which charities you'd like to support. Whether you're splitting the additional cost with your team or fundraising the difference, we thank you in advance for your generosity!!
October 23, 2024 Registration is coming!
We want you at the starting line April 27, 2025. To get there, you have to pass through the gauntlet that is "Haunted Halloween Registration Day Delight" (patent pending).
Just over one week away, beginning at 7am (EDT) on October 31st*, your team captain (or designated big spender) will go to the registration page with the following:
- Team contact (you can change the captain later, if need be)
- Address
- Phone
- Informed consent to sign the waiver
- A credit card (or Paypal) for the $100 deposit
- A keen eye for detail (to pay attention to your remaining balance and registration number)
After you pass through registration in lightning-fast speed, securing your entry and celebrating accordingly, it's time to get down to brass tacks. You will immediately receive a confirmation email from the registration system. This might get sent to spam, so be sure to check. The email will be proof-positive that you're entered and will contain your registration number, remaining balance, and instructions on how and when it needs to be paid. This year we are accepting Venmo, paper checks, and maybe the Inverted Jenny (where are my philatelists at?).
Maybe you're wondering what's new in 2025? There are going to be some course changes! Last year we teased a return to the original start line, then had to pull back when some city construction interfered. Barring a similar issue, we'll make good on that promise and have you start and end at the lakefront. We are also moving the "Hector Falls" exchange a bit and making some tweaks to other legs as well. Don't worry, the lake isn't going anywhere and we're still going counter-clockwise around it, so it will largely be the same great time you've come to expect!
We took your responses to the post-race survey seriously and have embarked on a continuous improvement plan to make the 2025 edition the best it can be! Thank you for caring and sharing!
*If your team has received that coveted prize known as early registration, you should have received separate instructions for that earlier this month. Please check your email for specifics, because if you miss your special sign-up window we cannot guarantee you a spot once general registration opens. This is reserved for top finishers from 2024, hometown (Geneva) teams, and those loyal crews that have been with us for more years than we can count on one seven-fingered hand.
